The new "Standby Power Consumption" regulation (EU) 2023/826 issued by the European Commission has come into effect

The European ErP (Energy Related Products) standby power consumption new regulations were officially released on April 18, 2023, came into effect on May 9, 2023, and will be enforced from May 9, 2025.

Significant changes in new regulations

Covering the maximum energy consumption requirements of various electrical and electronic devices in shutdown mode, standby mode, and networked standby.

Abolish the old EU regulation on standby power consumption (EC) 1275/2008 and the regulation on ecological design requirements for simple set-top boxes (EC) 107/2009.

The lower limit for standby and shutdown modes remains at 0.50 watts, while the lower limit for shutdown mode has increased to 0.30 watts starting from May 9, 2027.

The standby power consumption limit of devices with display screens cannot exceed 0.80 watts. The drum dryer cannot exceed 1.00 watts.

The standby power consumption of network connected products with HiNA function cannot exceed 8.00 watts, and the standby power consumption of products without HiNA function cannot exceed 2.00 watts.

Expanded product range:

Delete the exemption from the old regulations for equipment powered by low-voltage external power sources.
Remove the washing machine and dishwasher products, which are separately defined and required in the regulations of (EU) 2019/2023 and (EU) 2019/2022.

Add hair care equipment such as beverage preparation machines and curling sticks.

Requirements for adding devices such as printers and game consoles

Include both simple and complex set-top box product categories.

Includes adjustable furniture, as well as electric louvers, doors, windows, and similar products.

According to the EU Ecological Design Directive 2009/125/EC, products that do not meet the new requirements will not be allowed to be placed on the EU market.
